TV ?

TV?  What is that?  Ours has been non-existent nearly a week now.  Not the TV ... but the satellite dish , who knows for sure why.  But after a couple of days of getting the "771" error message we gave up and called and ordered a new power cord as well as an a/c d/c converter.  We have the Automatic Wineguard Carryout antenna, love it too. However; when it doesn't get FULL power it don't work.. LOL  We are pretty confident that the power cord and/or the 12V connection is the culprit.
NOTE:  I get NOTHING by mentioning Wineguard...no compensation of any kind, in any form.
Mention of Wineguard is strictly blog content.

  UPS tracking says it will arrive tomorrow and I am sure enough ready for it, and praying that IS the solution.  JEN will head to the hardware store in Cotulla to pick it up tomorrow afternoon.  If all else fails, we still have several  months of the warranty left.

Just a bit of FYI here...since we are in the middle of the oil patch and have no 'physical address' only a P.O.  Box...  when we need a package delivered we use the Ace Hardware store in Cotulla, the folks there are so very helpful and allow this for pretty much anyone who needs the service.  They do it at NO CHARGE , I must add.  Just friendly neighbors to their community.  Awesome, right?

We have had everything from lawn chairs ordered from QVC to memory cards for the camera shipped there, and never had one item lost, damaged, or stolen (like from your own front porch).

I really miss my 'idiot box' .. I mean common what else is there to do between vehicles coming thru the gate in the wee hours of the a.m.   I really miss TV on nights like tonight.  We are transitioning from coil tubing to flowback, and the traffic is slow but steady.  About 1 or 2 vac trucks every half hour.  The first part of the night I attempted to nap on the couch, but gave up once I realized the bell was gonna rouse me up every half hour .  Don't know about you, but for me NO sleep is better than being constantly awakened.

Now a pic for your enjoyment

Another SLOW day on the gate...

Hello again, and yes, it was slow day on the gate.  Actually had only 2 vehicles ALL day requiring a log entry.  Just a few that needed assistance with directions.  At least one of those was looking for the drill rig that LEFT here last week, and the other was searching for the frac site down the road.

If you are in the oil patch, you just have to laugh at the 'lost drivers' on these roads.  Not because the drivers are actually lost, mind you.  I truly feel for the most part it is more or less the 'blind leading the blind'. It is surely either a foreman, a co-worker or some sort of dispatcher giving them directions...and seems purrdy  apparent to me that none of them know how to get there either.

However; we do get visitors that know exactly where they are...
There are the hundreds of birds  that come by daily. Many I can't identify but I  am familiar with Cardinals, crow, woodpeckers, as well as a pair of QUAIL we saw for the first time today.  The Quail stopped by twice today, both early morning and again in the early evening.  Of course there are several Roadrunners.
Most I only hear within the branches of  Mesquite and scrubb

(Not best quality pic, taken through camper window.)

       Then there is the female Coyote, she has been coming by almost every day several times a day for the past several weeks.  One morning, JEN spotted her right up on the rug  in front of the camper, he quickly got my attention so I could see her as well.  I had to remind him that the first night we saw her, she actually appeared to be sniffing one of the chairs we use outside.

Well, the gate is CLOSED for the night, and I best get some sleep... since we have a planned shopping trip for JEN tomorrow... it would just be my luck for traffic to start rolling in 5 minutes after he leaves.  If there is ANY guarantee,  it is that there is nothing guaranteed in the 'oil patch'.

Roadrunners OUT!

SLACK TIME?

Some slack time seems to have arrived.  After a month with a drill rig at our gate, they have completed work here, and moved on.

Frac will be coming soon? Last week the drill rig completed their move, took 3 full days and part of a
fourth.  This as it turned out was due to a couple of problems requiring welders to come in and make some repairs.  At least one flat tire on a huge forklift as well.

Not complaining really, but traffic has now come to a stand still... yep two days with not one single entry on the traffic log.  Ya might think this to be just super awesome, but NOT.  It is just super boring.

It now being Monday I truly expect traffic to start back up again...probably in full force.  Only time will tell.  I'll let ya know, at any rate.

In the meantime, I'll take this opportunity to catch up on a little sleep. Yea right, so can anyone tell me why I'm up posting on this blog at 2:50 in the a.m.???

ROADRUNNERS OUT!

Finally here

Took some doing, but finally blogging :)

First let me do the introductions...

I am MIN, my counterpart is JEN... will not apologize for the 'initials' because we prefer to maintain a bit of privacy.  The persons that will know us by this method will be family and close friends.  All are welcome to follow along on our journey.

It began quite some time back.  Procrastination among many other things have prevented me (MIN) from getting this blog going.   I do plan to post as often as possible, however; know that out in the boonies of South Texas where the roadrunners run, the coyote play, the snakes rattle and everything either wants to sting ya, bite ya or EAT ya  .... internet connections are not always very cooperative.

This blog will be in no set order...I will write/blog as the thought comes to mind.  I'll attempt to keep it sane, not for me but for you... least any reader loose his/her sanity.. sure don't want that  on my conscience.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So here we go!
First real post ... we are a couple , that decided nearly two years ago to leave the sticks and bricks life, and enter the full-time RV lifestyle.
The first year was awesome, living in a campground... yea yea ... stayed in the same place for a full year, still it was great and confirmed what we thought.   That we could survive in a very small living space ON WHEELS no less!
Over the years I had always searched the internet for ways to make money from home.  As I am sure many reading this have done.  Most of what you find out there are scams...pure scams, that only want your $$$.  You guessed it, we too, threw dollars away ... chasing a dream.
BUT NO MORE!  One day I was home surfing from site to site on the WWW, and low and behold I found a blogger or two... they talked about something I had never heard of, something that enabled them to travel, see things and places they never had before.  They wrote of having NO RENT to pay, NO WATER BILLS, NO ELECTRIC BILLS.... WHAT?  Surely you jest!  This can't be true.
But it was ... IS TRUE.   They were talking about GATE GUARDING ... in TEXAS!
To make a very long story shorter... That is where we are now, have been for more than half a year now.
After researching the companies that contract / hire folks to do this work, we decided it was the answer... a means to an end... or the BEGINNING...
Yes it meant leaving the safety of the known...family and friends back home.
It meant entering into a totally new life, venturing into the unknown, at least for us it did.
But after much prayer and consideration of both the possibilities as well as the probabilities... here we are!
AND... we are loving it, we are making more $$$$ than either of us had before, and actually able to SAVE $$... able to send gifts (just because gifts) back home.
Life as a full-time RVer and as Gate Guard is just great, we love it.
